Inception meeting on climate change

Namayingo district to roll out activities related to mitigation and adaptation to climate change focusing on the fishing communities

An inception meeting has been conducted by officials from the ministry of water and environment in the department of climate change at the district headquarters.

The team with support from the embassy of Iceland will conduct the climate risk and vulnerability assessment for the districts of Namayingo and Buikwe and also facilitate formulation of District Climate Change Action (DCCAP) for the period of 2022/2030

The Iceland government is implementing programs through projects in education, WASH, empowerment of women and youth climate change and general capacity development support in the two districts.

The objective is to reduce poverty and improving livelihood of people in the fishing communities.
